Press Release

BriSCA BIG LEAGUE BACK IN TOWN

The thunderous roar of the BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Cars returns to Northampton International Raceway on Saturday May 21st – and this promises to be the biggest meeting at the Brafield venue so far this year.

The Big League will be going for World Championship qualifying points under the floodlights, and a huge entry of all the country’s best tarmac stock car racers is expected to descend on the raceway. With the World Final taking place at the venue in September, as well as the European Championships, all the drivers will be eager to get as much practice in as possible ahead of the big events.

The action seen at the previous F1 meeting at NIR last month was some of the best tarmac racing seen in the sport for a very long time, although 172 Micky Randall may not agree after his huge impact with the fence with 434 Ivan Pritchard and 150 Mick Sworder doing the pushing. 84 Tom Harris was another star of an incredible night when brake discs glowed, Goodyears squealed and smoked ,Chevrolet engines roared and the clang and clash of metal bumpers and steel plating was heard for miles around. If the action comes even close to this epic encounter, another fantastic night is in prospect.

The BriSCA F2s are also back at Brafield for another of their visits as one of the most action-packed formulas around. 445 Nigel Green and 886 Chris Bradbury are traditionally the fastest men around the tarmac ovals, while former World Champion 401 Barry Goldin and the Warwickshire-based Green family should also be present along with a host of other big names. Look out also for 16-year old sensations 921 Jack Aldridge and 866 Bob Griffin – there will be a huge range of potential winners on the grid in the F2s.
