Press Release

Tonight’s the Night!

Saturday night, August 7th, Coventry MCM Stadium. This is the night that drivers who have qualified for the 2010 BriSCA F1 World Championship will be concentrating on more than just heats and final – it will be the Brandon shaleway that will be getting their undivided attention.

Car set-up, stagger, tyres, camber, wet or dry, this is the last chance before the World Championship Final for twenty UK drivers to make informed choices they hope will help them to carry aloft the magnificent solid silver world trophy donated to BriSCA by Coventry promoter Charles Ochiltree back in 1960 at the first World Final held at the Stadium.

Following this season’s tried and tested format the F1 races kick off with a whites and yellows only heat – 30 drivers have booked in for this one, followed by two more traditional heats for all grades, a consolation race, then comes the Don Round Memorial Trophy Final sponsored by the Veterans’ Association, all rounded off with the grand national race.

Adding to the mix of 63 F1 cars, 69 BriSCA F2’s racing over two heats, consolation, final and grand national produces a recipe for a feast of the best oval racing BriSCA has to offer.

After the world semi-finals held at Sheffield and Buxton, World Champion Andrew Smith and former champ Frankie Wainman are now equal on a level playing field at Coventry. Andrew has had the edge over Frankie this year, but Frankie is the highest point scorer at Coventry this season with 113 points to Andrew’s 83!

Success comes with confidence, and confidence comes with success! To quote Rebecca Smith, the little sweeheart in Gears and Tears: Drivers “Are you feeling confident?”. BriSCA F1 World Finalists – tonight is the night you must put your confidence to the test – it’s your last chance.

And for the fans – come along full of promise to support your favourite driver – spur them on with your cheers, give them a confidence boost, raise the roof off the stadium – it’s your time to practice for the World Final too.

Saturday 7th August, Coventry MCM Stadium, Rugby Road, Brandon, Coventry.
Start Time 7.00pm (turnstiles open 5.00pm). Free Car Park.

Admission: Adults £16.00, Concessions £12.00, Children 11 -15 £5.00 under 11’s Free
