Sheffield Owlerton Stadium Groundworks

Stratrax promoter Steve Rees has released this news statement.

As part of long terms plans for Steel Cities OWLERTON STADIUM work starts Monday 26th April for major groundwork’s to get under way in the much maligned pit area that has proven problematic over the years.
Startrax have invested a considerable sum which will see heavy equipment delivered and a topping of motorway scalping’s. Work is due to be completed in readiness for the opening race session of the 2009 campaign on Monday May 4th.

Promoter Steve Rees admitted `The conditions in the pit area have been a challenge for over 30 years and have suffered from a chronic lack of investment which certainly has not kept pace with drivers equipment. Someone had to bite the bullet and that is us! We definitely plan to host our next BriSCA F1 World Championship World Final at Owlerton and we have mapped out a four year plan of progressive improvements to compliment what is one of the finest stadiums in Short circuit racing’
Stadium owners A&S Leisure who have invested heavily in stadium facilities over the last ten years have just commenced a £2m extension of the Raceview restaurant scheduled to be open for the busy Christmas Greyhound season.
