Dave Russo from Great Harwood, Lancashire was the last driver to race as number 49. He began in 1994 with a completely rebuilt chassis originally used by Steve Hodgson (top picture), fitted with a big block 427 Chevy that had seen service with chief mechanic Roger Brown (ex-360) in the 1980s.

A self-built car was introduced for the 2003 season (lower picture), and Dave raced this until his retirement in 2012. His no-nonsense, never-give-up style of driving made him one to watch, and he recorded numerous race wins during his career, including a Final at Coventry.
