New season countdown : 10

10

Lee Smith, changed to number 10 from 76 in 2013. Lee always raced as 10 in previous formulae and as it wasn’t available when he started F1 he choose number 76 as it was close to his good friend Mark Poole’s number of 276.

Lee races almost exclusively on shale. He has been racing since 2007 and has won 4 heats.

Before Lee, the number 10 was with James Potter. The son of Jim Potter (146), James first appeared on track in 1982 as number 164. For the 1999 season he switched to number 10 and raced for a few more years before retiring in 2003.

James made a return in 2008 for the Peter Falding testimonial meeting, and went on to have a few further outings over the following few years. It was one of these, at the Christmas Belle Vue meeting, that he won his career second final, and in doing so, denied Peter his 100th final.
