National Series Shootout Details

Details have been announced about the new look National Series.

2009 sees a significant change to the National Series, with a 10 round ‘Shootout’ providing a climax to the Championship.

35 meetings from the Fixture List have been designated for the National Series race for the Silver Roof. The first 25 rounds can effectively be seen as qualification rounds, with only the TOP 10 points scorers being eligible to go through into the final 10 round ‘Shootout’.

Frantic action is expected during the final qualification rounds, as drivers floating around the 10th position cut-off point, battle it out amongst themselves to remain in contention for the final 10 round ‘Shootout’.

After round 25 at Birmingham Wheels Raceway on Saturday 12th September, the Top 10 drivers elidgable for the ‘Shootout’ will be know. These drivers will all have their scores zero’d. (Drivers who didn’t make the cut will be locked out of the Championship).

The 10 round ‘Shootout’ then follows. The action will be intense as the 10 drivers racing for the championship will not be alone. They will indeed have to contend with up to 30 other drivers on track all racing for personal glory and prize money for each individual meeting.

The Championship climaxes with the National Series Finale at Belle Vue, Manchester on Sunday 1st November, where this meeting will carry Double Points.

Prize money for the 2009 National Series currently stands at around £11,000

In recent years, the National Series has provided exciting finishes to the season, but with the honour coming down between two drivers. It is hoped this new scoring sytem will allow for more drivers to be in contention for the prestigous ‘Silver Roof’ on National Series Finale day.
