Coventry BriSCA F1 World Final Build-Up #6

Latest news from Coventry HQ :

Just over a week to go now until the BriSCA F1 Championship of the World and after a surge in ticket sales over the weekend we are delighted to say that well over 3,000 tickets have been bought in advance. All these organised people have the chance of entering the stadium thirty minutes before the gates officially open to the public to pick their spot for the evening’s entertainment.

They will also have the opportunity to be the first to look around the Heritage Exhibition which is celebrating fifty years of World Finals at Coventry Stadium. We have nearly forty vintage machines booked to appear along with a classic Heritage transporter taking you back in time to the 50’s. All these cars will be displayed in the kennel concrete area behind the main grandstand (turn four) where there will be a food and drink point so that you can grab a bit to eat and then go onto step back in time and visit the static display.

The earliest raced machines we have are from 1955 and both belong to Duncan Bell, whilst the display will also feature two Aubrey Leighton race cars along with Roy Clark’s 1949 Ford Pilot which appeared back in 1959. Mike Shirley will be appearing behind the wheel of the 1965 World Final winning car of 3 Ellis Ford later on during the evening whilst Rob Squire will be taking to the track in another World Final winning machine – 100 Tony Neal 1968 champion. Dick Gladden will be appearing in a 1937 Chrysler Coupé raced in the fifties whilst Graham Bunter will be enjoying the action from the seat of the Nev Hughes 1935 For Model 48.

There are many more booked to appear and race from this era and they are also joined by fellow pieces of history from the 70′s and 80′s, many of which took the all important World title in their hay day. Rob Bradsell, Iain Stirk, New Holcroft and Peter Falding are to name but a few that will be on track during the night in the 70′s and 80′s heat fighting it out for a win on the Brandon Shale. With the exception of two cars, all of this display will be out on the oval throughout the night and look forward to the support from the capacity crowd.

Before they take to the tracks for a race, there will be a parade from 4:45pm compared by Mr Keith Barber who will step back in time and give the crowd his in depth knowledge of all these machines one by one. If you enjoy reminiscing this really is going to be worth a visit in the afternoon and then sit back and enjoy seeing these cars back out where they belong.

Why not soak up the atmosphere from the restaurant and sit in comfort all night whilst enjoying a three course meal as well. We have a few seats remaining in the restaurant and the price is £55 per person which includes entry to the event and you have your seat for the evening in the warm with a perfect view of the track.

You can choose from the following menu:
