Coventry BriSCA F1 World Final Build-Up #2

Latest Coventry press release:

Friday 3 September

Locally based band Rockbottom will be performing after racing finishes in the Understand Bar and will provide the entertainment for the late night party.

Rockbottom are a covers band and their play list includes just about everything so don’t be afraid to talk to them as they will do requests.

They will from time to time ask if anybody wants to get up and have a sing, which is always dangerous territory, however, it will not be Karaoke as no printed words or screens to sing from so you have to be brave to get up and have a go.

After a hard night’s racing and with 34 coaches from Holland in the car park plus many more who will be staying over this party is set to be a steamy affair as the understand holds about 600 once we have taken the furniture out and we are not sure we can get everybody in.

To back up the band we will be selling beer at a discounted price for the whole weekend at £2.50 a pint which is a 35p reduction on normal prices which should help one or two to get brave enough to have a sing along.

We will also have a traditional Beer festival taking place with some interesting brews brewed specially for the WF to tickle your fancy.

No 53 Legless Lundy – 4.3%abv
This is a lighthearted beer with a kick which makes for a great last bender

No 515 Wobbly Wainman – 5.9%abv
A real winner inheriting only the serious side of its forerunner and as such not everybody’s favourite as a seriously heavy beer which is guaranteed to give you the wobbles

No 391 Smashing Smith – 5.7%abv
A charismatic beer with a long heritage of fun & frolics from its forerunners but always holds a little back for when it really matters

No 4 Desperate Dan – 3.4%abv
Needs to be taken a lot more seriously than its heritage would suggest and should be considered a light weight for those that wish to go the distance

No 259 Hallucinating Hines – 4.2%abv
Always seeing double even if it is served in plastic rather than its more traditional glass

No 84 Peeping Tom – 7.2%abv
This is a young upstart hoping to get into the final mix and is sure to push a few out of the way even if it is brewed with apples instead of hops.

Saturday 4 September

The following morning the stadium will open its doors to those that have stayed over in the car park so that they can access the toilets and if they wish they can use the female and male speedway showers for £1 to cover the costs so that they can start to feel human again.

The understand bar area will be ready to serve breakfast from 8am till 11am for those that can’t face cooking early in the morning with a WF special on offer for £5 consisting of:

2 x Bacon
2 x Sausage
Beans or Tomatoes
Scrambled or Fried Egg
Slice of bread and butter
Tea or Coffee

We will be doing other great food and drink offers during the World Final weekend and these will be detailed as we get closer to the event so make an occasion of it and let somebody else do the cooking.

If you wish to make a proper weekend of it why not get a hotel booked and taxi it. There are many hotels in the Coventry area but here are a few to get you started.
