BBC Announcement

An announcement has come from the team behind the BBC documentary to say the details about the DVD on the BBC-shop and other websites are incorrect.

We just wanted to clear up some misinformation about the BBC series, and let you know that the DVD advertised on various websites is NOT the series we’re currently putting together at the BBC of the 2009 season. We’re not entirely sure where this innaccuracy has come from, but to clarify:

- We haven’t decided what the name of the series is yet (but most likely won’t be ‘Blood, Sweat and Gears’)
- The series has been commissioned for BBC1, and that’s where it will be shown.
- It’s going to be 6 x 30 minute programmes.
- We don’t know yet what the transmission date will be, but any DVD release will not be until after that.
- We’d never describe Stock Car racing as ‘Wacky Races’. We like to think of it as the true formula one!

While we have your attention, we’d like to extend our deepest thanks to the drivers, families and mechanics we’ve filmed this year. Without their valuable time and effort we’d never been able to put this series together. We hope you enjoy seeing what life is like for them behind the scenes, and get as much out of it as we did filming them. Also the great help we got from the many promoters and track staff was invaluable.
And lastly, to all of you, the fans. You’ve been gracious and supportive this season, sharing your sport and your passion with us, and we’re indebted to you for it.
We can’t wait to share the series with you, and as soon as we know details of the series name and transmission dates, you’ll be the first to know through Stoxnet and F1Stockcars.

Many thanks,

Beth, John and Charlie at the BBC

In respect of this announcement and to avoid further confusion, the previous article has been removed from F1stockcars – Sorry for the inconvienience.

Over the course of the season F1 Stockcars.com hopes to talk to those people behind the scenes that make the show happen. The unsung, under-appreciated, under-valued heroes of our sport. Without these guys we would not have any racing to watch at the race tracks.
