Andy Smith sped his way to a third successive Scottish Championship win on Sunday at Cowdenbeath. Clearly the fastest car on track Andy won by a decent margin from second place Stu Smith jnr, with Frankie Wainman jnr coming home third. Stu Smith jnr had looked quick in both his heats which he won comfortably, but he couldn’t match his brother for speed when it came to the main event.

At Knockhill, the Millers Oil Challenge Trophy went to long distance traveller Mathew Newson. Mat’s season so far, had been besieged by bad luck so perhaps that is about to change. In the race, Mat made a quick getaway at the start and worked his way easily through the pack to win comfortably. In the lead up to the Challenge Trophy, Andy Smith had won both his heats and it looked like he could well be in with a shout, but towards the end he could not close the gap on second place Frankie Wainman jnr.

Lee Fairhurst continues to drive well and did not look out of place from blue grade. He did not relinquish his position for anyone, including Stu Smith jnr and consequently hit the wall at Cowdenbeath in the first heat. However, Lee went on to win the last race of the weekend with Andy Smith coming home in eighth place after taking the lap handicap.

An explosive start to the meeting when James Morris (463) impacted the home straight fence after a couple of laps of Heat 1, before slewing across the track and being hit by Mark Gilbank (21), who then collided with Scott Davids (462) before the pair of them came to a dead stop in the turn one fence.
