The VSCA raising money for the Benevolent Fund

The Veterans Stock Car Association (VSCA) will once again have for sale, fan club memorabilia of the legendary Stuart Smith (391/1) at Buxton Raceway on Sunday May 22nd. The sale of these items is with the full blessing of the Smith family, with all proceeds being donated to both the F1 and F2 Drivers Benevolent Fund. The fan club memorabilia pack of stickers and sew on patches only costs £8 and will be available on the VSCA stall under the homestraight grandstand.

Items on sale in the pack include:

  • Once, Twice, Three times a World Champ 1980 (Woven patch)
  • Happiness is…. Smithy World Champ (Woven patch)
  • Super Stu we (love heart) you (Woven patch)
  • Ben Fund (Sticker)
  • Stu Smith Lion (Sticker)
  • National Points Champion 1969 – 1979 (Sticker)
  • Brisca National Points F1 stockcar (Sticker)
  • Super Stu World Champion 1980 (Sticker)

Supply is limited, and ALL proceeds go back into the sport to help support Drivers that get injured while entertaining us week in, week out.

Formed in 1978 and open to anyone involved at any level of Stock Car Racing prior to 1985, whether still involved in the sport or not.
Membership; Single £9 per annum. Joint £12 per annum.
Though out the racing season the VSCA put on social events, VIP tents along with reduced admission to some F1 and F2 Meetings as well as a Winter Dinner Dance.

Coventry pre-meeting problems for Murray Harrison 97 meant a starter motor needed to be replaced with the gearbox having to come out for access, and on doing so, swung round and snapped the throttle cable meaning it was all hands on deck to get the car ready for action.
