Frankie Wainman Books – Last Chance

For those that haven’t seen the review in last months stock car magazine, below is a review of the books that were presented to Frankie which can only be ordered until a certain date and then they are gone and not available again.

The orange career book is only available to order until the start of October so if you want a copy of the book, order it soon before its gone for good. The other black 2007 Final Tour book is available until the end of November.

212 Frankie Wainman – 37 Years of BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Car Racing 1970 -2007.

This book was put together to be presented to Frankie at his testimonial meeting last November. The book is a 13” x 11“ landscape format, hardback book with dust jacket and contains 160 pages. The main bulk of the book is a photographic record of Frank’s career from 1970 – 2007 with photos provided by many of the sports best photographers from over the years. Most pages have 4 different pictures and some are full page photographs and include on track action pictures as well as pit and victory lap pictures. Also included are a few fan club derby photos.
The early years are mainly high quality black and white pictures with the odd colour picture as well, but from about 1978 the pictures are all in full colour.

The book starts with a foreword by 1982 World Champion Willie Harrison, followed by an excellent written article by ex stock car supporter writer David Clark. Also included are six pages of Keith Barbers Super Car and Golden Oldie drawings of Frank’s cars. Frank’s farewell tour t shirt design is included in the book.
At the back of the book you will find a complete list of all his final wins as well as other major career statistics including number of heat, consolation, final and GN wins as well as other championship events won.

The book is finished off with a page of pictures of some of his cars in chronological order and two pages of Frank’s famous smile from 1970 – 2007

The book is only available to order online and will never be available at any tracks. To order a copy of the book and to view a 16 page preview, use the links at the bottom of this article. The books are printed in Holland when an order is received and shipped to you via a choice of shipping options. The 37 year career book (The Orange cover) is only available to order until the start of October 2008, and then it will be removed from Blurb.com bookstore/server, so if you want a copy please order it before then.
The books current order price as set by the publisher is £46.95 plus postage.

There is also a second book with a black cover which was also presented to Frank. This is the same format but contains 200 pages. This book is just a photographic record of his final year in the sport and contains full colour full page pictures from each track throughout the season. It also has pictures of Frank in the V8 as well as both his tarmac car and shale car. The end of the book is dedicated to pictures from his testimonial meeting at Sheffield. This book is more for die hard Frankie fans and for Frankie himself, as the orange book is more for casual Frankie fans who want a record of his whole career.
The foreword in the black book is by 6 times World Champion Stuart Smith.

The black book costs £53.95 plus postage due to the extra 40 pages of content. This should be available until the end of November and then it to will be unavailable again.
