Venray – Gold Cup 2011 Race Report
Englishman Gary Castell (H247) scored his second straight World Cup victory at Venray on Sunday. Castell, who holds a Dutch Stock car licence and drives for the Team Baarlo, grabbed the lead in the early stages from Louw Wobbes (H22) and was never challenged.
Wobbes grabbed the lead at the drop of the green while behind him chaos ensued when Danny Smidt (H148) spun and the field scattered to avoid the spinning car.
Wobbes and Castell moved ahead of the field before Wobbes pulled off with a broken halfshaft. Frankie Wainman (GB515)fought his way to third place when he tangled with the lapped car of Jessy de Bruin (H399) and was forced to retire with a flat.

Ivan Pritchard (GB434), who had been on the pace the previous day, suffered some bad luck when a broken exhaust jammed under the sumpguard and forced him to retire.
Danny Wainman’s (GB212) race came to an end just after halfway with brake problems. Gareth O’ Beirne(GB412) in only his fourth F1 meeting was the highest UK driver.
