Stoke ‘Christmas Carmaggedon’, 28 December 2014 – Meeting Report and Photo Gallery

Stoke Speedway played host to the annual BriSCA F1 Christmas meeting in 2014, on a bright, crisp winter’s day.

Tom Harris (84) used the meeting to try some new set-ups for his car. They seemed to work as he won all three races on the card, but it was not easy for Harris who had to work hard for his race wins.

Tom Harris managed a clean sweep at a no-so-clean Stoke.

Heat One started with a stampede into the first turn with Craig Howarth (52) and Mark Sargent (326) coming off worse. For Howarth, it was the end of his race, but for Sargent the damage he received in the pile up signaled the end of his afternoon. Tim Warwick (307) opened up a sizable lead before the race was halted to remove several stricken cars on turn one. On the restart, Harris soon caught and passed the Bedfordshire driver.

Steve Smith (40) led Heat Two from the get go, Harris cut through the field and tracked down Smith, passing him as the white grader was within sight of the checkered flag.

Steve Smith (40) looked as if he was going to claim a victory in Heat 2, leading until the last lap.

The final proved to be the race of the day. Nigel Harrhy (45) soon got to the front of the field with some ‘foot to the floor’ driving. Harris nudged into the lead only to have Harrhy come back at him on the next turn. The pair of them tangled allowing James Neachell (322) and Dutchman Harmen Zwerver (H195) to pass them. Harris restarted way back in the pack and began to close on the leaders. Zwerver barged Neachell out of the way to take the lead. As the pair of them fought for the lead Harris snuck up on them and muscled his way into with only a couple of laps remaining.
