Skegness – September 15th 2012 Consi Semi-Final Report

For the first time, overseas drivers were allowed to take part in the Consolation Semi-Final in the shape of Ron Kroonder H217, Wesley Schaap H77, Harmen Zwerver H195 and Martijn Oudhuis H477.

After a composed drive, Rocket Ron Kroonder 217 went on to become the first overseas driver to qualify for the World Final by winning the Consolation Semi Final. A big first bend push saw the cars charge into turn one en-masse with most of the field coming to grief with half a dozen cars failing to complete a lap with Adam Slater 214 taking a heavy impact requiring medical assistance before the race could be restarted. Singing Cornishman Mike James 417 led the field a bit too eagerly with Ron Kroonder H217 purposefully claiming the lead for himself and pulling smoothly clear of second placed Dan Johnson 4 with the duo claiming the valuable qualifying positions for the World Final. Lee Fairhurst 217 despite his best efforts placed third for the second year in a row but was still able to get on the back of the grid as the first reserve.
