James Neachell ( 322) takes the final win at Kings Lynn.

The first F1 session of the Season at the World Final venue produced some good action on a bitterly cold evening.

First up was a whites and yellows race, something that will be held at each King’s Lynn meeting during 2009, and it dies give the lower graders a chance to get in some track time and a shot at some glory. Richard Bryan (238) drove an impressive race before being overhauled by Mike Kingston (188) towards the end of the race.

Heat 1 saw the new cars of Craig Finnikin (55) and Matt Newson (16) hit the track, both cars were up to speed from the start of the race and after Frankie Wainman, Jr (515) retired following a mid race pile up Finnikin powered to the front crossing the finishing line first, only to be excluded for no transponder, that handed the race to Paul Harrison (2) who was on the heels of Finn when he crossed the line.

Matt Newson almost secured a win in heat 2, but a last bend challenge from Steve Cayzer (380) sent both the East Anglian drivers to the wall, allowing James Neachell (322) through for the win.

Neachell carried on his good form in the final, breaking from the pack of red tops to take the lead after four laps. Frankie Wainman, Jr closed the gap at mid point, but by the end of the race Wainman was under pressure from Lee Robinson (107) which allowed Neachell to pull away.

Wainman made amends by winning the Grand National, but only after a terrific scrap with Ed Neachell (321)
