Birmingham, 19th October 2013 – meeting overview

Micky Randell won the Final.

Micky Randell won the Final at a hectic Birmingham meeting.

The mid-October session at Birmingham was generally well received by those on the terraces. None of our regular correspondants was in attendance, so to give an idea of what it was like, here’s a round-up of comments made on Stoxnet.

A fast and fearsome night at Birmingham.

You can get close to the track at brum and standing by the catch fence those hits were awe inspiring no other motorsport looks like it or feels like it.

Heats 1 and 3 were very good with 217, 150 and 212 getting stuck into one another and then 197 and 4 having a good ding dong before 197 brought 4 out to the turn 3 fence and tried to park him behind the stranded 325 car. The final was then also a brutal affair with 197 once again grasping the metal in his determination for the silver roof and dispatching 217 hard into turn 3.

I wasn’t expecting much last night and after a friend called me on the way to tell me it was raining heavily at the track I very nearly turned back but I’m glad I went, some fantastic stock car racing!

Brutal! Amazing, fast and full on stock car racing heat 1,heat 3 and the Final were just superb.

Proper stock car racing.. No holds barred stuff.

A special mention should go to the 55 team who got Craig back out for the GN after what looked like total and utter destruction of both axles in his “coming together” with Mick

Felt like we had gone back 4 or 5 years last night to when Birmingham meetings were great, you were excited to see what was going to happen in the next race and didn’t know where to look.

Thanks, as always, to Colin Casserley for the photos from this meeting.

Great drive from Alex Wass to win Heat 3.
