At the close of the 2011 racing season, multi-champion winning and fans favourite Andrew Smith, announced his retirement from the sport after what has been a prolific racing career.

Belle Vue – October 16th 2011 Meeting Report
The meeting at Belle Vue on Sunday 16th October 2011 turned out to be one of great historical significance, for after blitzing the opposition to win the final in flambouyant fashion, Andy Smith climbed out of his car and announced that that was the last time he would be seen racing a stock car.

A Sunday afternoon in Manchester saw another Belle Vue final win for Andy Smith, and with his retirement from the sport now imminent, this may well have been his last ever final victory.

Moody skies predicted rain but the weather stayed fine and warm for Shootout round 2, the week before the BriSCA World Final.

Sixty cars made the journey to Coventry for the August meeting. Forecasts of bad weather were on the cards but proved to be false with only a short shower occuring early on.
