New wheels for Robert Broome were on display at Northampton last weekend. Built by Robert and team, along with former F1 pilot Carlos Perez, everything is all new. Robert told Steve Botham the story behind it.
We bought the chassis and roll cage which had been built by Carlos and had it a while before we started new to put things together.
Carlos had the chassis hanging around for a bit and it was too good to just sit there. We got things under way but never really got round to finishing the job, so it went back to Carlos who helped out by finishing some of the stuff.
I had an engine which had been rebuilt by “Big Ron”, so that went in it. It does not look as though I will be racing it tonight as Conrad has had a lot on and with three cars to go through technical scruitineering, plus the other stuff he does, he is running a bit late, so I’ll miss practice.
I am not racing the car until I have been out in practice, I’ll race the old car.
It turned out to be a good decision, Robert came home fourth in the final, he looked set for third but was caught by Michael Scriven.
