Steve Reedman (361) is the latest driver to bring out a new car and have Steve Botham quiz him about it…
Steve has earned a reputation as the “go to guy” for Stockcar transporter conversions and paintwork, and he also paints quite a few stockcars. His “AKA” company logo is seen on many of the cars racing today.
He is of course a racer too and a year or so back pulled a off something of a shock win in the Final at an early season wet Skegness, session piloting a new FWJ car through very tricky conditions to take the flag.
He had a new car undergoing technical scruitineering at Coventry on Saturday, I asked him to fill me in the details.
This is brand new FWJ car built for shale. It was actually ordered 2 years ago, but I was in no hurry to get it. I still have my tarmac car, although we pinched the engine out of that to go in this car. Its a small block and I had it freshened up by “Big Ron”.
The graphics and signs were done by Rob Barber. It was always in my game plan to do shale but I have been so busy its been on a back burner. The furthest I have driven this so far is up the pits to where Conrad is giving it the full scrutineering session that all new cars have to have.
I’ll have to get something sorted for my tar car now. Everything is about ready, its just getting time to get things sorted.
