In Close Up: The New Shale Car of Lee Fairhurst (217)

Chris Clark’s In Close Up photo’s of Lee Fairhurst’s (217) new shale car. Self Built by Team Fairhust and debuted at August’s Coventry meeting. Lee intends to race the car at the Belle Vue World Championship Semi-Final before having to put the car up for sale, unless much needed sponsorship can be found. Lee told F1 Stockcars.com “We’re just a small team, we just don’t have the funds to run two cars, it’ll be a shame to sell the car, I would of liked to achieve the same success I’ve had on Tarmac on Shale and prove I’m an all round stock car driver, but for now that will have to take a back seat”

Coventry pre-meeting problems for Murray Harrison 97 meant a starter motor needed to be replaced with the gearbox having to come out for access, and on doing so, swung round and snapped the throttle cable meaning it was all hands on deck to get the car ready for action.
