BriSCA World Final 2011 – Overseas South African entrant

Three years after South African Quintin Saayman SA7 raced in the 2008 BriSCA World Final at Ipswich, Carlson Racing’s Shane Carlson SA1 has come over to the UK to race in the BriSCA World Final 2011.

Shane comes from a strong South African racing family with his father having raced for over forty years, meaning twenty seven year old V8 sprint car driver Shane has been around race cars for as long as he can remember. Shane regularly races at the Spedeworth South Africa venues, is leading their Club Points and has been racing for approximately five years holding the prestigious SA1 for the past two years.

Coventry pre-meeting problems for Murray Harrison 97 meant a starter motor needed to be replaced with the gearbox having to come out for access, and on doing so, swung round and snapped the throttle cable meaning it was all hands on deck to get the car ready for action.
