The Uk open championship took place at a sunny Skegness Stadium and a quality field featured the best of Brisca and a select band of top tar stars from the Netherlands.
The May Speedweekend at Skegness is the first chance for F1 Drivers to land a title in the racing season, and Saturday night’s session was not only a ideal opportunity for car set up to be perfected for the UK Open Championship meeting the following day – but also to claim some valuable qualifying points towards the World Championship which is being held at the East Coast tarmac strip in September.
Over the course of the season F1 Stockcars.com hopes to talk to those people behind the scenes that make the show happen. The unsung, under-appreciated, under-valued heroes of our sport. Without these guys we would not have any racing to watch at the race tracks.
An explosive start to the meeting when James Morris (463) impacted the home straight fence after a couple of laps of Heat 1, before slewing across the track and being hit by Mark Gilbank (21), who then collided with Scott Davids (462) before the pair of them came to a dead stop in the turn one fence.
Coventry pre-meeting problems for Murray Harrison 97 meant a starter motor needed to be replaced with the gearbox having to come out for access, and on doing so, swung round and snapped the throttle cable meaning it was all hands on deck to get the car ready for action.
The Queen’s Birthday meeting at Blauwhuis saw over fifty cars celebrate in style in front of a huge crowd.
This journey takes us to the North West of the Netherlands home to the Blauwhuis Clay Track in the Friesland Provence. Where 9 heats and a final will take place over an 8 hour Field Meeting.
Over the winter we featured Rob Harrad’s Winter Strip Down, Re-paint and Re-build. In our final instalment we take a closer look at the new front axle using a home made beam which Rob has permission from the BSCDA to test as well as the final install of the engine and gearbox.
